Andor episode 4 review: Stellan Skasgard steals the show, Diego Luna comes a close second

Andor - Stellan Skasgard.

Star Wars: Andor

Story:

Andor has run free from The Imperial, unaware of where he is headed next. Witness the beginning of the revolution through his journey in episode 4.

Review:

If you couldn't get over Stellan Skasgard's Luthen Rael's cameo in the first three seasons of Andor, then wait till you hear him and Diego Luna in the beginning of episode 4. They make this episode as much worth watching.

Stellan, in fact, is rather worth watching. Apart from being a great actor, he has a great role and shines in every scene. He is truly the best part of the episode.

Diego, even if a lot subtler than his usual characters, is a delight to watch. He brings the emotions at the right time and in the right amount. That makes his character stand out as much as Stellan, slightly above his even.

The Empire was generally very rude and scary but that is missing in this episode, even as the core team members are introduced. The efforts from the makers' side are visible but they do not translate on screen.

Genevieve O'Reilly's return to the Star Wars series is rather exceptional. Her benign but firm attitude is very much worth the wait.

Unfortunately, this time we do not go into Andor's past but see something similar play out in his present. If you have followed the show so far, you would know why Andor was born for the moment he is in currently.

Alex Lawther is the ultimate surprise in the series. The actor fits the show like hand in a glove.

Alan Tudyk returns as K-2SO and is still nailing his character. He has a briefer role but makes an impression, nonetheless.

Kyle Soller's Syril Karn is unfortunately not the highlight this time. As one can expect, The Imperial has pushed him down and now he is no less than just an employee in an organization that sides with The Dark Side.

In short, this episode is totally worth, for it sets a strong base for what is coming - the much-needed rebellion.

Verdict:

Andor episode 4 is what great content means. There is no VFX or over-the-top acting. Here, the actors stick to the script and deliver their roles with near-perfection. It is what makes this episode special.
