Anamika Season 1

Story:

Anamika follows the story of a woman, who has forgotten everything from her past life and lives with Dr Prashant. She decides to move on with her new life and gets married to a person, who she met three years ago. But a sudden turn of events changes her life completely.

Review:

Anamika (played by Sunny Leone) is a story of a girl suffering from retrograde amnesia, who just remembers the last three years of her life. Though her mind has forgotten every little thing related to her life, the former agent's body remembers everything. As it's shown in the series, Sunny's character, who is formerly known as agent M, can be seen fighting the goons as the trained agents do. She doesn't only try to save herself from these unknown attackers but her partner Dr Prashant (Ayaz Khan) too. After watching her fight in full combat style, her boyfriend discovers the fact that her body mysteriously works as her earlier self.

Sadly, he dies in the encounter, which leads Sunny to find the person behind it to avenge the death of her boyfriend. Though the series begins with a good storyline, it soon starts to seem like a cheap adaptation of the 2020 crime-thriller series, Ek Thi Begum. The only difference between the two is that in the latest series Anamika, it is a former spy agent who is avenging the death of her partner, who was a decent doctor, while Sapna from the Sachin Darekar directorial was taking revenge for her gangster husband's death from a world-famous criminal.

Well, the series moves forward and we see some known faces of the industry including Sonnalli Seygall, Rahul Dev and Samir Soni. While Sonnalli's character Rhea is an Indian spy agent, her whole look including stylish crop tops and perfectly managed long hair do not go well with her image in the show.

Samir, who plays the character of a big business tycoon with another firm for drugs, can easily be pinned down as an overacting machine, while Rahul as a very experienced actor in multiple language content brings nothing new to the table.

The two worst and the most irritating things in this action-packed series are the background scores and the backdrops, which remind us of the cheap music and overuse of CGI in the low-budgeted '90s films. The poor use of CGI makes the scenes look unrealistic, which cannot be simply accepted, especially in 2022, when the technologies have developed so much.

The only watch-worthy scenes in this diabolic piece of art are the fighting sequences between Sonnalli and Sunny. Meanwhile, the OTT debutante wouldn't be called the best actress as she passes with merely grace marks.

Verdict:

With a poor story, loose execution and cheap dialogues, the so-called 'action-thriller' web show fails miserably. Anamika is a perfect example of how the OTT platforms are being taken for granted with such flop content.
