Harrison Ford returns as Indy for the final time in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Harrison Ford began appearing in lead roles in the 70s and soon garnered a huge fan following. After he appeared in minor roles in movies such as American Grafitti The Conversation, and Apocalypse Now, George Lucas was impressed by Ford during the audition for his upcoming space opera movie Star Wars and was cast as Han Solo. The movie turned out to be a groundbreaking success and launched Ford’s career. He later starred in its sequel movies- The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi - both of which have been huge successes.
In 1981, he starred as the fictional professor of archaeology, Indiana Jones, in Spielberg’s Raiders of the Lost Ark which was also written by George Lucas. The movie was both critically and commercially acclaimed, and Ford went on to reprise his role in its sequels, including the latest one that was released in 2023.
Ridley Scott cast Ford as the protagonist in his dystopian sci-fi movie, Blade Runner which later attained a cult following. He also appeared in its 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2049 directed by Denis Villeneuve, alongside Ryan Gosling in the lead role.
Ford received his only Academy Award nomination in 1985, for his performance as a detective in the thriller movie, Witness.
The Fugitive The Patriot, and Air Force One are the other prominent movies that he has appeared in.
