Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh

The 2005 romantic comedy, starring Rajpal Yadav, Rituparna Sengupta, and Kay Kay Menon, captured the nuances of conjugal life, focusing on one man’s insecurities around his height. Sengupta and Yadav play a newly-married couple, while Kay Kay Menon essays the role of Sengupta’s debonair friend in the film.

In Anushka Sharma’s Bollywood debut Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, the actress plays a woman who is forced to marry a stoic simpleton after her father’s untimely death. Shah Rukh Khan essays the role of her husband, who creates a loud and cheerful alter-ego to impress his wife. Backed by Yash Raj Films and directed by Aditya Chopra, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi became the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2008 globally.

The film earned Bhumi Pednekar her Best Female Debut Filmfare Award and propelled her to instant stardom.
