Colin Farrell reveals the runtime of the anticipated Penguin spinoff series

Colin Ferrell has had a good year with his roles in Martin McDonagh's drama The Banshees of Inrishin and the acclaimed DC film The Batman. He recently sat down in an interview with Variety’s Award Circuit podcast and revealed that The Batman spinoff series on Penguin will have eight episodes in the first season. Naturally, Farrell will reprise his role as the crime boss Oswald Cobblepot aka the Penguin, and Palm Springs and How I Met Your Mother star Cristin Milioti will portray the role of Sophia Falcone, daughter to John Turturro’s Carmine Falcone. Earlier, director Matt Reeves revealed that the series would tie directly into The Batman's sequel which is set to release on October 3, 2025.

Kate Winslet’s The Palace begins production

There has been significant buzz surrounding HBO’s upcoming limited series, The Palace. Finally, the network announced that the series has entered production and also unveiled the first-look teaser image. Kate Winslet is seen sitting at the head of a long table in a lavish room with the flags uniformly lined up behind her. The miniseries revolves around a modern authoritarian regime which is on the brink of collapsing. Winslet is set to reunite with her Sense and Sensibility co-star Hugh Grant in this upcoming miniseries.

Katie Parker reveals her role in Mike Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher

Horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan is working on a series titled The Fall of the House of Usher adapted from works by Edgar Allan Poe. He will be taking inspiration from multiple short stories and poems by the author to create his series. Next Exit star Katie Parker will be portraying the character of Annabel Lee in his upcoming series. Annabel Lee is the last complete poem composed by Edgar Allan Poe which follows a story of a love so pure that even angels were jealous of it.

Octavia Spencer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Lucy Liu join the cast of a new Sci-fi comedy

A star-studded ensemble has been roped in for the high-concept sci-fi comedy film, Nobody Nothing Nowhere. Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer, Emmy winner Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Emmy nominee Lucy Liu will be part of this upcoming film. Helmed by Alex H. Fischer and Rachel Wolther, the film centres on a character called Ruth who is part of a group of human-like beings known as Non-People. Their purpose is to be realistic substitutes for humans for the last remaining person on Earth.

Tatiana Maslany is cast in the sci-fi horror film Green Bank

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany is making a comeback to horror with a new sci-fi horror film. She will be joined by another horror pioneer, Scream star Jasmin Savoy Brown.

Helmed by Josh Ruben, the film is titled Green Bank and takes place in an American town where all kinds of modern technologies such as Wi-Fi, cell signals, and radio broadcasts are strictly forbidden for mysterious reasons. Brown plays the role of an infant sleep trainer who discovers the people who hired her are more horrifying than they seem.

Priyadarshan and Vivek Agnihotri approached Mohanlal and Kangana Ranaut for their next project

Producer Vishnu Vardhan Induri is working on a six-episode mini-series titled One Nation which sheds light on India’s unsung heroes and he is planning to bring six filmmakers to direct each episode. Induri has roped in Priyadarshan, Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, John Mathew Mathan, Manju Borah, Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, and Vivek Agnihotri for the project. Priyadarshan has approached his long-time collaborator Mohanlal for the project. Whereas filmmaker Agnihotri is planning to bring Kangana Ranaut to the series.

Ishaan Khatter’s film Fursat is shot on an iphone

Vishal Bhardwaj released a new film, a 30-minute short film titled Fursat. The film is a Bollywood-style musical celebrating the power of love and has scenes featuring the desert, the underwater, a train, and even a massive dance stage. The most fascinating thing about the film is that it was shot with an iPhone 14 Pro, and Actor Ishaan Khatter revealed it was a delightful experience to see the film’s director Vishal Bhardwaj shoot the whole thing with an iPhone. Apple made a deal with Bhardwaj and roped him in to shoot the entire film on an iPhone 14 Pro.

Thalapathy Vijay’s film Varisu will release on Amazon Prime Video soon

Thalapathy Vijay’s film Varisu will finally be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video on February 22. The family entertainer garnered a box office collection of 250 crores globally, and it follows a happy-go-lucky man whose life turns upside down after the death of his foster father. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shaam, and Samyuktha among others.
