Welcome to the podcast that brings you up to speed with lesser-known facts, anecdotes, trivia, and a whole lot more about your favorite movies and shows. This is OTTplay Now You Know and I am your host Nikhil.

The Big Bang Theory

If you love nerd sitcoms like The IT Crowd and The Office, then The Big Bang Theory (also dubbed TBBT) has to be in your list of top ten shows of all time. The nerd attack inflicted by a group of four young scientists that made 'being a geek, kinda cool' has, over 12 seasons, become a cult classic. And if you consider yourself to be a hardcore fan of the show, you’ll love these interesting facts about the series that you possibly didn’t know

Much like her on-screen character Amy Fowler, Mayim Bialik happens to have a doctorate in neuroscience. In fact, the actress who graduated from University of California has also written a parenting book that examines the role that hormones play in the parent-child bond. Now you know where she gets those insights into her character.

Did you know that TBBT is one of the few shows that showcase their actors eating actual food during shots. In fact, the show’s prop manager once aspired to be a chef, and would always whip up a storm whenever a scene demanded consumption of edibles. As they say, the cast that eats together stays together.

If you’re fans of Sheldon and Leonard, you’ll be surprised to know that these character names were actually derived from the late television producer Sheldon Leonard. But then again, what’s in a name.

Johnny Galecki had been originally asked to come on board to play Sheldon but felt he was better suited for Leonard's role. And given the chemistry they share on screen, we know that this decision actually paid off.

You can catch TBBT on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video

Alright, that's all we got about The Big Bang Theory. I shall be back again with another podcast about another popular film or show. Until next time it's your host Nikhil out of here.
