Sanjay Dutt had a candid chat about his histroy of substance dependence, how he bounced back and his cancer diagnosis.
In a chat with social media personality Ranveer Allahbadia aka beerbiceps, Dutt spoke about how doing drugs was "cool" for him. "I had to make up my mind. What happens when you’re into intense drug addiction, you become a loner. I had become like that. I was a hard nut to crack, and I was at the rehab center for two years, which is rare. I couldn’t just accept that I was a drug addict," he revealed,

Dutt opened up about his stint at rehab, where he said he kept himself occupied by engaging in fun activities with other members. However, during his time there he also realised that his substance dependence made him miss out on crucial life experiences.
Dutt told Allahbadia, "Ten years of my life I was in my room, or in the bathroom, and not interested in shoots. But this is what life is, and that’s how everything changed.",
Dutt also mentioned that going to rehab helped and he soon bounced back. However, the stigma of being a drug user remained but he slowly and steadily tried to better his public persona. "When I came back, people used to call me charsi (pothead). And I thought, galat hai yeh (this is wrong). People on the road are saying this. Kuch karna padega (I have to do something). So I started working out. I wanted to break though that. And then from charsi, it became a guy with swag and ‘kya body hai’.”,
