Nagarjuna Akkineni was born on August 29, 1959 in Madras in a Telugu family. His father is veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, and his mother is Annapurna. Though his family hails from Ramapuram district in Andhra Pradesh, his father moved to Madras to start his career as an actor. His father is a recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan for his contributions to the fields of art and cinema. He has appeared in some memorable performances, such as in films like Vipra Narayan, Laila Majnu, Devadasu, and Anarkali.
