It is the season of love. Valentine's Day is coming closer and thus, it is also time to relive the film which is the whole definition of love - Mohabbatein.
Mohabbatein, a story about love:
Yash Raj Films' Mohabbatein, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead roles, is essentially the story about love. Even when there appears to be hate, the film only addresses love and its many forms. Raj Malhotra, who is the love guru in Narayan Shastri's Gurukul, speaks only the language of love. He is the hopeless romantic we all keep looking for and realize why he is the way he is.

Meet Megha:
Raj loved someone. He often says, "Ek ladki thi deewani si, ek ladke pe woh marti thi," and every word of the line holds true. Megha, played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, was madly in love with Raj, a student of Narayan Shastri's Gurukul.

Narayan Shastri, the bitter pill:
Meet Amitabh Bachchan's Narayan Shastri. He believes in "Parampara, pratishtha and anushasan (family values, prestige and discipline)." Narayan is probably the most unromantic character you would meet in the film. While love is everywhere, he has none to offer, especially after his daughter Megha killed herself for love. A love he denied her. Both Narayan and Raj faced the same tragedy. They both loved the woman in different ways and they both moved on with life differently. While Raj kept Megha close to him every second and believed in spreading love, Narayan thought people should focus on other things in life because life is a bitter pill. Whether you wish to be a Raj or a Narayan in your life, there is more fun in being Raj, which is also proven through the film. Being a romantic at heart, Raj helps couples reach their destination, no matter the minor differences between them.

Couple #1:
Vikram Kapoor (Uday Chopra) and Ishika Dhanraj (Shamita Shetty) are the young couple in love. They do not know the feeling till the two actually cross the borders set by the girls and boys hostel and finally meet.

Similarly, Sameer Sharma (Jugal Hansal) likes his childhood friend Sanjana (Kim Sharma) but could not confess till Raj came into his life. Raj lost the love of his life and so, he wants to make sure nobody else loses out while they still have time to be with the people they love.

If there is a childhood love story, there is also a romantic angle between two people with a huge age difference. Karan Choudhry (Jimmy Sheirgill) is still in college when he comes across Kiran (Preeti Jhangiani). She is a widowed woman who is scared. Nonetheless, the two fall in love, breaking down another barrier and proving that love comes in all forms.

Hell, even Kake (Anupam Kher) and Preeto (Archana Puran Singh) have the hots for each other and who is to stop them? There is actually no reason to and the two are pretty adorable to let them stay apart.

Raj proves love is eternal:
Raj himself proves that love comes in various forms. He is still in love with Megha. Raj consults with his memories of Megha (shows as Aishwarya's ghost) before making any decision. She is a huge part of his life, even after her death. Thus, Raj proves that men have a choice too - to stay loyal, even if it is to a memory because the person is no more. He proved love is eternal and there is no stopping true love.
