Actors often go through a physical transformation to suit their characters in a film. This transformation sometimes asks them to either gain weight or lose weight. Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi gained weight to play their roles in the film Double XL and then lost that added weight. Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, played Mahavir Singh Phogat in the sports biographical film, Dangal. The actor went from weighing 68 to 95 kilos to fit into the older version of the character and went back to 70 kilos to look like his younger version.
Kriti Sanon took perfection to another level when she gained 15 kilos for her role in Mimi, playing a surrogate mother. The actor gained weight in the second half of the film instead of using prosthetics.
Hrithik Roshan is featured in the 2019 biographical film as Anand Kumar, a math teacher who forms an educational group called, Super 30. The actor had to sacrifice his lean body and put on weight to fit into the older version of the character.
The movie that changed the course of Vidya’s filmography, The Dirty Picture, wanted the actor to put on 12 kilos to fit into the role of Silk Smitha. The big hit biographical movie of 2011 was directed by Milan Luthria, and Vidya played the main role.
The "Queen" of Bollywood, actor Kangana Ranaut, gained 20 kilos to play the role of politician, Jayalalithaa in her biographical film, Thalaivii, in 2021. She later reduced the added weight to look like her younger version.
