J P Dutta: A war movie veteran
Do you remember all the famous war films of Bollywood, from Border to Refugee to Kargil? All of these are the creation of the creativity and imagination of J P Dutta. The filmmaker started his career in 1976 with the film Sarhad but went on to pen down some of the legendary cult-classics Bollywood movies of all time, such as Border, Refugee and Umrao Jaan. With a career spanning more than four decades, he has made more than ten movies that showcase his creative skills and storytelling abilities. Border
It has become a tradition to watch Border during Independence and Republic Day celebrations. It is one of the most memorable and visually appealing Bollywood war movies that depict the sacrifices that our soldiers make on the border to protect local citizens from threats. The 1997 film features an ensemble cast of Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. J P Dutta’s directorial set the stepping stone for two star kids, Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor Khan who were the main leads. The superhit period drama film depicts the tale of an Indian Muslim who helps refugees from India and Pakistan to cross the border illegally. Based on the novel Umrao Jaan Ada, the film features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead role.
