Bollywood has been brilliant at capturing the essence of festivals, the emotional bond, the festivities and all the celebrations that follow with it. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001)

When it comes to Karwa Chauth, who can forget Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham that celebrates the festival with glitz and glam. The family celebrates the Indian festival even while living in London amongst the Indian community which gives a sense of unity within the community, strengthens bonds and forms emotional connections. It is one of the best picturised scenes in the film.

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995)

Who can forget the iconic Karwa Chauth scene from the Aditya Chopra-directed movie Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, twenty-seven years later. The memory of Simran faking her weakness and fainting on the ground so that Raj could feed her is still fresh in the audience’s memory.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999)

One of the most romantic films ever produced in Bollywood, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam has an individual Karwa Chauth song to it. It is titled “Chand Chupa Badal Mein”, as the lead couple, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan celebrate their special moment together.

Baghban (2000)

Nobody is a match to this legendary couple of Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini who showcased how love triumphs over all and is everlasting even in old age. The Karwa Chauth scene in the film is one of the turning points of the film because it exposes Salman Khan who is cheating on his wife Karisma Kapoor with Sushmita Sen.
