Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar – who is looking forward to her Netflix film ‘The Archies’ – has accidentally confirmed that Alia Bhatt will be the leading lady in a YRF movie soon.
Zoya Akhtar talks about a film of Alia Bhatt.
Alia Bhatt is one of the most talented and promising actors in Bollywood. 2023 has put a feather on her hat as she recently won the prestigious National Film Award in the Best Actor (Female) category for her performance in the 2022 film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. While the actress continues to shine in her career, an interesting development has swept in for her fans. Today, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar seemingly confirmed that Alia Bhatt will be the lead in a full-fledged YRF spy universe film.
Zoya Akhtar spills beans about Alia Bhatt’s professional life
During an interaction with Film Companion, Zoya spoke about how the career graphs of several leading actresses pan out in the Indian film industry. She said, “In many films, they (female actors) would rather be in a big hero-led film than carry their own film. However, things are changing. YRF is doing a Spy Universe film with Alia (Bhatt) in it. She has several (done several female-led films) in the past, and Vidya Balan has done it as well. So, things are changing.”
Interestingly, this news comes around a time when Zoya is planning to direct a film with Alia Bhatt in it. The film is titled Jee Le Zara and is also likely to include Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the lead roles.
The Archies
Meanwhile, Zoya is promoting her upcoming film ‘The Archies’ currently. Get ready to groove with 'The Archies,' an Indian teen-musical comedy film that brings the beloved American comic book series to life. Produced by Tiger Baby Productions and skillfully directed by Zoya Akhtar, the movie features a talented ensemble cast including Mihir Ahuja, Aditi Saigal, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Yuvraj Menda, Agastya Nanda, and Vedang Raina. Mark your calendars for December 7, 2023, when 'The Archies' is set to hit Netflix, promising a delightful blend of music and comedy.
