Bollywood’s acclaimed filmmaker duo Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti are back with yet another interesting project! This time, it’s a crime-mystery thriller web series - Dahaad - starring Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma and Gulshan Devaiah. Scheduled to start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from May 12, the story of Dahaad is set in a remote village of Rajasthan. Just dropped, the trailer of the upcoming series looks quite intriguing and power-packed.
Speaking at the trailer launch of Dahaad in Mumbai earlier today, Zoya elaborated on what the audience can expect from the crime thriller series. “I think you can expect something different from our usual, coming-of-age films and series. Reema and I are particularly interested in dabbling in every genre, and this time we have touched upon a thriller together,” Zoya said.
Zoya and Reema have previously collaborated on the Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer 2019 musical drama film Gully Boy while the two also created Made In Heaven - a 2019 romantic drama web series for Amazon Prime Video - under the Tiger Baby Films banner.
Dahaad - which is said to be the first Indian web series to premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival - is produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby Films. Directed by Reema and Ruchika Oberoi, the series also features Sohum Shah, Manyuu Doshi, Yogi Singha, Sanghmitra Hitaishi, Ratnabali Bhattacharjee, Nirmal Chiraniyan, Vijay Kumar Dogra, Abhishek Bhalerao and Waris Ahmed Zaidi.

“This is our second outing with a crime thriller after Talaash: The Answer Lies Within [the 2012 thriller-mystery film, starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji], and we are very excited about it because it’s got its own tone and it’s layered. It says a lot of things about women that we want to touch upon,” Zoya said, adding, “Dahaad has got an amazing cast and it’s beautifully crafted by Reema and Ruchika. And I think we really like collaborating with Amazon. I think Aparna Purohit is easily the sharpest mind in the streaming space right now, and it always makes our work better.”
Meanwhile, Zoya and Reema are also working on their upcoming film, The Archies - a musical adaptation of the popular Archie Comics series - starring Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina and Agastya Nanda.
