Zendaya, who reprises her role of MJ in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home recently spoke about how the idea of directing a feature is exciting for her.
In a conversation with her Euphoria co-star Colman Domingo at Interview Magazine she talked about wanting to direct "a simple love story about two Black girls," something that is yet to be seen on screen in Hollywood. More often than not, love stories focusing on LGBTQ+ characters will centre around the trauma of being queer, notes Collider.
Zendaya said that the idea of donning the director's hat is an exciting prospect which is why "I’m on set so much. When I’m not in it, I’m right there trying to learn," and how much she desires to be at the helm of "things that [she] wants to see."
"Our existence is broad and expansive and beautiful, and to see all the different emotional colors of what it means to be a young Black girl—I would like to see that because I don’t think I’ve seen many depictions of it," said the actor.
Besides No Way Home led by Tom Holland which releases in cinemas on December 16, the actor will be seen in the HBO series Euphoria, out on January 9 next year.
