The first look of Nanda Periyasamy's Anandham Vilayadum Veedu was unveiled by Vijay Sethupathi earlier this year. Tipped as a family drama set against a village, the movie's star-studded cast includes filmmaker-actor Cheran, Saravanan, Vignesh, Daniel Balaji, Mottai Rajendran, Soundararaja, Munishraj and Singampuli among others.
Shivathmika Rajasekhar, the daughter of Tollywood actor Rajasekhar, makes her Tamil debut with the project which has cinematography by Borra Bhalabharani and editing by NB Srikanth. The film has Siddhu Kumar composing music and Hari Dinesh choreographing action sequences. Bigg Boss Tamil fame Snehan, who will be seen essaying a key role in the movie, has written the lyrics for songs, too.
The makers have now announced that Zee5 has acquired the movie's digital rights while satellite rights have been owned by Zee Tamil. However, they are yet to announce whether the film will have a direct-to-OTT release. Earlier, there were unconfirmed reports that the project might release this month.
Interestingly, Taapsee Pannu-starrer Rashmi Rocket for which Nanda Periyasamy was the writer, had a premiere on Zee5 a month ago. Produced by P Ranganathan under the banner Sri Vaari Film, the teaser of Anandham Vilayadum Veedu was released a couple of months ago by Arya, Regina Cassandra, Lingusamy and Ashok Selvan.
The movie had gone on floors before the first lockdown. Though the pandemic posed a big challenge to the team, they completed the shooting during the lockdown itself. In an earlier interview, Nanda had said that the plot of the film revolves around the confusions and misunderstandings that occur between the brothers who belong to a joint family.
Gautham Karthik, who was last seen in Devarattam has Pathu Thala and the long-pending Sippai, awaiting releases. Cheran, on the other hand, last directed Thirumanam, in which he played one of the leads. His last release as an actor was Rajavukku Check.
