Zack Snyder’s cut of Rebel Moon will include additional backstories, new character arcs and more; details inside

One has to give credit to Zack Snyder’s fan pull as we continue to witness his frenzy amid the fandom. The filmmaker recently released Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child Of Fire on Netflix has already dominated the streaming platform with a massive viewership and still counting as we speak. But that is not where all the anticipation ends, if you have already seen Part One, of course, there is a Part Two too. But there is also a Snyder cut aka Director’s cut of the film. Writer Kurt Johnstad now talks about the director’s cut and what one should expect from the R-rated version.

What Is The Director’s Cut:

Rebel Moon has two versions, one is the palatable PG-13 that was released on Netflix, and an R-rated one that will hit the streaming sometime sooner. But if you are unaware, this is very much Zack Snyder’s style. The filmmaker is known for having Director’s cuts for his movies. The last time we saw one was Zack Snyder's Cut Of Justice League released on HBO Max after a massive fan demand. Though we didn’t have to demand Rebel Moon’s Director’s cut it still is exciting.

As per ComicBook, now Kurt Johnstad talks about what is included in the Snyder Cut Of Rebel Moon. He assures that there is a lot more of Jimmy in the Director’s cut. “There's definitely a lot more story at the front of the movie," Johnstad said. "You're definitely going to get a lot more Jimmy and see his arc, and you're going to get a lot more of Kora and the Motherworld. You're going to get a different introduction to Noble. You're also going to get a different introduction to some smaller characters like Aris [Sky Yang], who's the Motherworld soldier that defends the character of Sam in the granary.”

“So you get an interesting look into why he is now constricted as a slave soldier of the Motherworld and how he got there. So his arc is much more defined. But just in broad brushstrokes, there's more character, and certainly knowing Zack, there's more action and spectacle and the visual vibrance of what he does,” he added.

He even went on to joke how Rebel Moon would have turned out to be a four-hour-long PG-13 movie if they had included everything in the Netflix cut. "There's definitely a lot more mythology, and a deeper understanding of the Motherworld and their intention, and what the rebellion is coming up against. So there just wasn't enough time. It would've been a four-hour PG-13 movie,” Kurt Johnstad concluded.
