Social media is abuzz with comments about how similar Yuva Rajkumar’s fierce looks, walking and action style is to his late uncle, Puneeth Rajkumar, in the Yuva trailer
“Yuva trailer… Appu Boss nenapadru”, “Boss nodange aythu”, were among the most common comments on social media after the trailer of Yuva Rajkumar’s Yuva dropped today. Raghavendra Rajkumar’s younger son Guru, who is going by the screen name Yuva Rajkumar is being propped up as the worthy successor to the podium left empty his uncle, Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar, by fans, and if the trailer of Yuva is anything to go by, director Santhosh Ananddram, has incorporated enough elements in the narrative that remind fans of their dearly departed favourite star.
Santhosh, who was done two films with Puneeth – Raajakumara and Yuvarathnaa – and was set to do a third with him when the actor tragically passed away, and has had a long association with the family, was best suited for the job of launching Yuva and giving him a film with the right amount of commercial elements, while also ensuring Puneeth’s family audience crowd is also happy, with father-son sentiments and so on and so forth. Fans are going ga-ga over the trailer, checking out every frame and comparing it to Puneeth Rajkumar in his many films.
Two shots that have caught the attention of fans are of Yuva walking into the frame from behind a car and a stunt sequence with a helicopter kick, both of which they say reminded them of “Appu boss”. Some of the other reactions that have been pouring in also include comments that the Yuva trailer feels like a mashup of the director’s earlier Mr and Mrs Ramachari and Yuvarathnaa, as well as another Kannada movie – College Kumar.
By and large, fans have been satisfied with Santhosh’s trailer cut, but there have been some voices of dissent too. But for Yuva’s swag and impressive action, they said that the plot does not offer anything novel for a debut movie.
