Although actor Prabhas needs no reason to gain traction on social media, not many would imagine the re-release of his hit film Yogi to become one of the most discussed topics of the day. Keeping the ongoing trend alive, the 2007 film arrived in cinemas on August 18 and has been receiving a spectacular response from the actor's fans who have thronged theatres across the two Telugu states.
Adipurush OTT release: Where to watch Prabhas' controversial mythological epic right now
One quick search with the 'Yogi' or 'Yogi4K' hashtags will offer you a taste of the hysteria unfolding inside those cinema halls, with Prabhas' dramatic entry, his dance moves and pretty much everything in the film drawing almost deafening hoots and cheers from the crowd. In the same vein, one might reckon that some of them have gone a bit too far.
In Nandyala's Raj Theatre, a few fans jubilantly ran up to the big screen to dance along with their superstar. But in the heat of the moment, they would end up falling on the heavy white vinyl screen, causing two massive punctures.
Outside Hyderabad's Sudarshan Theatre, enraged fans were spotted damaging property inside the premises and also hurling things at the building. Although the reason for this remains unconfirmed, social media suggests that the same fans were extremely upset over Yogi not being able to break a specific 're-release' box office record. In another theatre, fans from two warring groups can be seen exchanging fierce blows as others join in.
Prabhas, of course, would be next seen in Salaar: Part One - Ceasefire which is set to release on September 28, 2023. He also has Nag Ashwin's mega-ensemble film Kalki 2898 AD which also stars Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani, Kamal Haasan and others, along with Maruthi's film Raja Deluxe.
