Yennanga Sir Unga Sattam trailer: A hard-hitting take on some of the harsh realities in society

The first look of Prabhu Jeyaram's Yennanga Sir Unga Sattam which released a month ago, had captured the attention of film buffs, thanks to the hybrid-dressed musician in it who was seen holding several musical instruments, with the tagline ‘no caste no religion’ in the background.

Produced by Sudhan Sundaram and G Jayaram under the banner of Passion Studios, the film, according to the director, features 12 artists playing dual artists in it. The makes had said that the movie will remind the audience of K Balachander’s popular drama Oru Veedu Iru Vaasal. RS Karthiik, Ayraa, Soundarya Bala Nandakumar, Rohini and Bhagavati Perumal among others play pivotal roles in the project.

The makers have now released its trailer through Arya's social media account. The two and a half minutes trailer throws light on the current scenario in Tamil Nadu with regard to jobs in the public sector based on caste reservation and Dalit priests being appointed in temples. Some of the dialogues like 'God accepts the one rupee we offer. Why won't the same God accept a priest from our caste" are hard-hitting and likely to trigger a debate among movie buffs. Netizens have already started pouring appreciation for the bold theme showcased in the film's trailer.

Arunkrishna Radhakrishnan has handled the cinematography for Yennanga Sir Unga Sattam which has music by Guna Balasubramanian. In an earlier chat with OTTplay, Prabhu said that the team was thinking of going the OTT way, though there is no further update on it. He said, "We had wrapped up the shooting before the first lockdown and were looking forward to an ideal date for a theatrical release. But the second lockdown and the uncertainty related to opening of movie halls made us reconsider our decision. The subject’s relevance in the current times made us think about releasing the movie on an OTT platform."
