Yami Gautam set to share the screen with Akshay Kumar for the first time in Oh My God 2.
It was recently revealed that Akshay Kumar starrer 2012 blockbuster movie Oh! My God is soon getting a sequel. The film will see Kumar and producer Ashish Varde joining hands again, taking the OMG franchise forward. Now, if reports doing the rounds are to be believed, Yami Gautam is the latest addition to the ensemble cast of the film, set to play the lead role opposite Akshay Kumar.
A source was quoted as saying by BollywoodHungama, "Yami Gautam will play the female lead in Oh My God 2 and she has a very crucial role in the story. While the last part was all about the fight of a man with God, this time around, the makers have come up with a unique story line that has three key roles to be played by Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam and Akshay Kumar respectively. All details however have been kept under wraps."
In the 2012 film, Paresh Rawal portrayed the role of an atheist common man with Akshay Kumar playing the Almighty in his life. This time around as well, the movie will follow a similar concept but with a different story and new characters. Earlier it was reported that Pankaj Tripathi will be replacing Paresh Rawal in the sequel, playing the role of the common man, whereas Akshay will continue with his role in the God avatar.
This will be the first time that Akshay Kumar and Yami Gautam will share the silver screen. While the prequel was directed by Umesh Shukla, Oh My God 2 will be helmed by Amit Rai, who has previously worked on critically acclaimed projects like Road to Sangam. Interestingly, Amit had also directed the short film on sanitary napkins, I-Pad that eventually inspired Akshay Kumar's movie Padman.
Akshay Kumar who was last seen in the Disney+Hostar release Laxmii has several big projects in his kitty right now. His most awaited project Sooryavanshi is caught up in delays due to the ongoing pandemic. Yami Gautam on the other side has recently been in the news for tying the knot with Uri director Aditya Dhar.
