Yami Gautam Dhar is on a roll with back to back OTT releases. After gathering immense praise and acclaim for her performance in the recently released movie A Thursday on Disney+Hotstar, Yami is all set to amaze her fans in the avatar of a Haryanvi cop in her next release titled Dasvi. The makers of the film which also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Nimrat Kaur, dropped the trailer of Dasvi on Wednesday. Apart from the subject on which the film is based, what caught the attention of the audience is the Haryanvi accent of the actors in the film.
Getting the accent right for a character who is from a particular region in the country is of utmost importance in order to bring authenticity to the role and make it more believable for the viewers and going by the trailer, Yami seems to have done a fantastic job in getting her Haryanvi accent right. While speaking about her prep for the same, the actress shared in a statement that she took classes from her teacher Sisunita who helped in getting her diction and the nuances right. Yami said, "We worked on each and every dialogue and also how much to hold back because how much is required for the character is very important to identify." She added that if the diction becomes too pure and detailed then it becomes very difficult to understand for the pan India audience and that is something which they didn't want at all.
Yami further shared that they identified and marked a combination that will help one understand her character's background and at the same time, one can also understand what her character is saying. The actress added that it was equally important to understand "where to put the stress, because Haryanvi (accent) has certain width to it". Well, it seems that her hard work in getting the accent and diction right has paid off as netizens have lauded her character in the trailer.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Vishal Jalota, Dasvi is a social comedy that revolves around the Chief Minister of a state who wants to pass his class 10th examination while he's been locked up in jail. The film is all set to begin streaming on Netflix and Jio Cinema from April 7, 2022.
