The OTT release date for Yaavarum Vallavare has been revealed. The film, starring Samuthirakani in the lead, will make its streaming debut on Aha on April 19. It will also be available for streaming on OTTplay Premium.

Yaavarum Vallavare marked the directorial debut of Rajendra Chakravarthy and was first released in cinemas on March 15. Based on the trailer, it seems that the film delves into an important socio-political issue in the country.

The plot of Yaavarum Vallavare

The film addresses the evils of caste and how society's obsession with it won't even let the dead rest in peace. It makes a poignant statement that the caste identity of a person will follow them from cradle to graveyard, regardless of whether or not they like it.

Samuthirakani seems to play the role of a quintessential good man, the kind of character that led most old Tamil classics but has become extinct in an era dominated by anti-heroes. The film seems to follow a typical story of how good deeds may not always be appreciated by society. In one scene, the hero's wife asks him to stop worrying about society and start focusing on the problems within the family. However, the hero, as expected, brushes his wife's prudent advice aside and proclaims that the village is standing behind him and people are counting on him. We instantly know what fate awaits the hero: a series of heartbreaks and disappointments leading to the realization that "every man for himself."

The central conflict of the movie also stems from the chaos that unfolds around the funeral arrangements of a soldier killed in action. While the village gets ready to bid goodbye to the slain soldier, worthy of his valour, the efforts are marred by the politics of hate and caste.
