The teaser of Writer starring Samuthirakani in the lead, was released a week ago. The makers have now come up with its two-minute trailer which provides more detailing on the actor-filmmaker's character in it. He plays a writer in the film, directed by Franklin Jacob, which will have a theatrical release on December 24.

He is an undervalued person in the police force despite working for 35 years in the department. The trailer has him saying, 'My service has been all about pens, typewriters, and now computers. I have never raised my hand any anybody'.

Samuthirakani plays Thangaraj, who hails from Trichy, who has been working in Thiruverumbur police station. The film's story revolves around the insults he faces on a regular basis from his senior cops. How he takes up a sensational case, which actually does not fall under his duty, forms the crux of the story.

The actor-filmmaker's last two outings, Vinodhaya Sitham and Chithirai Sevvaanam had direct releases on Zee5. While the former released in October, the latter released earlier this year.

The movie has been produced by filmmaker Pa Ranjith, along with Abhayanand Singh, Piiyush Singh and Aditi Anand. Govind Vasantha has composed music for the project which has cinematography by Pratheep Kaliraja and editing by Manigandan Sivakumar. Sudesh has composed action sequences for Writer which has dance choreography by Satish Krishnan.

Dileeban, Ineya, Harikrishnan Anbudurai, Subramaniam Shiva, GM Sundhar, Maheswari and Lizzie Antony among others have played important characters in the project which is set for a theatrical release on December 24.
