Not only did the year 2022 deliver some of the biggest hits in recent years, it also delivered some of the biggest disasters in cinema history.
At the box office, 2022 has delivered some of the biggest hits and colossal flops. Following the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, 2022 was a year of recovery for the entertainment industry. It was all about attracting audiences back to theatres and proving the power of compelling content. A few movies, though, fell short of accomplishing that. Even though Akshay Kumar had a bad year, Samrat Prithviraj will probably be remembered as one of his biggest failures. Similar to this, Dhaakad, starring Kangana Ranaut, set a record for lowest box office take for a Hindi film. Ranbir Kapoor had a year of extremes, and Ranveer Singh delivered his third straight box office flop with Cirkus.

Dhaakad:
The budget for Razneesh Ghai's film Dhaakad starring Kangana Ranaut was Rs 85 crore. The movie will be remembered as one of the biggest flops in movie history. The overall box office collection of Dhaakad was Rs 2.85 crore.
Shamshera:
In Ranbir Kapoor's career, this year will be remembered for having completely opposite box office earnings. While Brahmastra was among the year's biggest blockbusters, his Shamshera bombed. The movie's budget was Rs 150 crore, but it only made back Rs 63.58 crore.
Laal Singh Chaddha:
Laal Singh Chaddha, directed by Advait Chandan and starring Aamir Khan, did not do well at the box office. According to reports, the movie's 186 crore rupee budget was not recouped. On social media, however, opinions about Laal Singh Chaddha were divided. In this official Hindi version of Tom Hanks' Forrest Gump, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya, and Mona Singh all play significant roles.
Thank God:
Helmed at a reported budget of Rs 100 crore, Thank God starred Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, Nora Fatehi and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles. The film registered an earning of Rs 36.15 crore.
