Paul King’s recently released musical film, Wonka is getting favorable numbers at the box office. Warner Bros’ Wonka is a musical prequel to the iconic fantasy film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, starring Timothée Chalamet leading the star cast in the latest adaptation.

Releasing on 15 December (Friday), the film garnered over $14.4 million domestically according to the insights on Box Office Mojo. Ahead of the weekend, the film is expected to reach 40 million dollars. Although musicals in today’s era are unpredictable, Timothee Chalamet’s charm and a pivotal star cast like Hugh Jackson, Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, and Matt Lucas might play the favorable cards for the fantasy-musical.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Wonka grabbed a promising start as it inches closer to $38 million in the US for the opening weekend. Getting a theatrical release on 4203 screens, Wonka is expected to attract a larger crowd on the weekend of the holiday season. With Christmas around the corner, families are gathering together to celebrate the happy vibes, thus contributing to the striking numbers.
