In a press statement, Anjali Menon had said that she discovered that “sisterhoods can empower us individually and collectively”. “With Wonder Women, I wanted to portray this warm bond through multiple characters from varied backgrounds and their fun and feisty way of dealing with life,” she said.

The movie, which is also scripted by Anjali, is in English with smatterings of Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. The filmmaker also said that the characters are ordinary women and she hopes they connect with audience across the country.
