Ever since advance bookings opened for Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 across the globe, industry trackers have been reporting that the response to the film’s Telugu and Hindi versions has been phenomenal. According to boxoffice.com, KGF: Chapter 2 is on course to set an all-time record for opening day collection.

While there is an undisputed craze for the film, industry experts say that the week 1 collections of KGF: Chapter 2 in the Hindi belt has been bolstered by it being a festival release (Ambedkar Jayanti, Mahavir Jayanti and Vaisakhi fall on April 14), and the fact that Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey, which was earlier meant to be in competition with Yash’s film, is now out of the running. Jersey has been pushed ahead by a week, giving KGF: Chapter 2 a clean sweep of the box-office in that market.

Conservative estimates put box office collections from the Hindi market at a minimum of Rs 50 crore, with the film expected to break into the 100-crore club (across languages) in its first week itself. Lifetime predictions for KGF: Chapter 2 hover between Rs 600-800 crore.

Produced by Hombale Films at a rumoured Rs 100-150 crore budget, KGF: Chapter 2 is expected to give the box-office records of RRR and Baahubali 2 competition. Opening day tickets in Karnataka are being sold at rates ranging from Rs 400 and going up to Rs 2,000, especially for early morning shows. This is expected to return to normal rates after the initial week.

Starring Yash in the lead, KGF: Chapter 2, directed by Prashant Neel is the second and final instalment in the KGF saga. Also on the cast are Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Prakash Raj, Avinash BS, Malavika Avinash, Saran Sakthi, Srinidhi Shetty, among others.
