Will Farah Khan be back in the director’s chair soon? Here’s what the filmmaker has to say
Bollywood is currently witnessing a rough patch it seems, with many big ticket releases over the last few months having failed to make a mark on the box office. But the uncertainty plaguing the industry is not enough to scare Farah Khan away from making a comeback to the director’s chair. The filmmaker recently spoke of how she had plans to start working on her next directorial soon.
In conversation with Times of India, Farah said that the kind of films she loved to do were back in cycle yet again. She said that there had been a whole ‘cycle’ where she chose not to make films as ‘her’ kind of films were not being made. The filmmaker said that nowadays, big ticket blockbuster commercial entertainers seem to be the kind of films that are working, which are right up her alley. “What’s good today is that my kind of cinema is back!”, she said.
However, the director is aiming to change her approach when it comes to her comeback. She said that this time, she would try to be quiet about her plans until they were ready to be rolled out. Joking that she had a ‘big mouth’ earlier, Farah spoke of how she had revealed all her cards earlier just out of pure excitement. At the moment, the director wanted to focus on her work and get it going.
Confirming an upcoming collaboration with Rohit Shetty, Farah said that her upcoming directorial would be bankrolled by the Golmaal director. Talking about how sweet Rohit had been to her, Farah recalled a time when the former had reached out and offered to help her and her family when they were going through a rough patch a while ago.
Farah’s last directorial came in the form of Happy New Year(2014), which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and Sonu Sood.
