Shahid Kapoor started his Bollywood career with the music video, Aankhon Mein, and will now be seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya opposite Kriti Sanon
Shahid Kapoor made his debut in Bollywood as the sweet, innocent boy-next-door. He was seen in the music video Aankhon Mein and was seen in that image for the longest time. What people did not know was that he was already related to another veteran actor, Pankaj Kapur. Pankaj is Shahid Kapoor’s father and that was revealed much later. Clearly, he did not wish to side with nepotism.
Why Shahid hid the fact
Shahid’s father taught him to not use his name but work hard for success. “Mere dad ne mujhe yahi sikhaaya tha, ki beta naam se nahi, kaam se roshan hona hai apne aap,” Shahid said during his interview with HT City. He added that he wanted people to see and recognize his talent.
On nepotism
Shahid then spoke on nepotism and said that one can go on as an actor for 4-12 years too but it is not what he wished for. The actor finds it stupid because he deciphers that when they would hit a low point, they would break apart easily.
On talented and untalented nepo kids
Shahid said that the kids who joined the industry through nepotism could find themselves talented but when they hit a low point, they cannot understand why did something not work the way they wanted it to. He even had a message to share for them. “Aapko strong banna hai. Apne pairon par khade hona hai. Apne aap ko itna strong banana hai ki koi bhi aapko todne ki koshish kare, aap apne kaam se unhe todiyen,” Shahid said, adding that it is what his parents taught him since he was a child and it is something he follows till date.
Shahid Kapoor’s next
Shahid Kapoor has come a long way since being the sweet chocolate boy. He is now remembered as the rugged man, thanks to his performance in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Kabir Singh. The actor will be seen in Dinesh Vijan-produced Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya next. The film, co-starring Kriti Sanon, will be out in theatres on February 9.
