During their appearance on the show in 2010, the two actors were seen taking digs at Ranbir Kapoor.
When Karan Johar decided to host Koffee With Karan back in 2004, not many would have expected it to become the massive hit it is today. After six seasons, the chat show has birthed a long list of controversies, all surrounding celebrities and big names. Karan Johar recently opened up about one such incident, where Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone irked Rishi Kapoor.
Talking to IANS as reported by The Indian Express, Karan said how often he has to step in to douse the fire after a rapid fire round. “I remember when Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone came to the show and spoke whatever they had to, Chintu ji (Rishi Kapoor) was very upset. I had to step in to make things alright. I have shows banned and taken off air, which I felt terrible for,” Karan said.
In their appearance on the show back in 2010, the two actors had a few digs at Ranbir. Deepika answered that she would like to give her then ex-boyfriend a box of condoms when asked what she would like to give him as a gift. She also said that her advice to Ranbir would be that he should endorse condom brands. Sonam Kapoor on the other hand said that she was not sure that Ranbir would make a good boyfriend.
In a recent interview with Hrishikesh Kannan, the talk show’s host admitted that the two actors might have overstated things and now with time, everyone is being extra careful when it comes to the show.
The seventh and latest season of the long-running show is now streaming directly on Disney+ Hotstar. The first episode of the new season featuring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, is now available on the streaming platform.
