Sushmita Sen was once called a ‘bad influence’ for being vocal. This happened back in the 90s, when she openly spoke about her choices. The actress feels that the haww factor exists even today but is not as bad as it was in the 90s.

Currently seen in the web series Taali, Sushmita told Film Companion that speaking your mind in the 90s called for people distancing themselves from the person. The actress is known for being bold in her professional and personal choices.

The actress spoke about the repercussions of being bold in the 90s and explained, “For you to speak your mind and to say anything that you believed in was like, ‘Phew! She is a bad influence, don’t get her in front of our kids and everyone else.”

Sushmita felt like what freedom would she have if they take away her freedom to express. She had two options in the scenario – to either not speak her mind at all or put it in a nicer way. She, of course, chose the latter.

With the invent of social media and more influence from across the globe, things evolved. What was called a ‘bad influence’ in the 90s was relooked upon and is now acceptable. The actress revealed that even though she faces the ‘haww’ from time-to-time, it is not as bad as the 90s.

Sushmita made her acting comeback through the OTT series, Aarya. She was accepted instantly and has even worked in Aarya 2. Her last OTT release, Taali, sees her play renowned Indian transgender Gauri Sawant on screen. The actress is being lauded for her performance in the series.
