Vikramaditya Motwane revealed Shah Rukh Khan's genius on the sets of Devdas sharing an insightful story about the actor's creative brilliance.
Before helming his own films, Vikramaditya Motwane worked as an assistant to Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas led by Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, respectively. In a recent interview, the filmmaker shared his experiences working with King Khan, revealing that the superstar's intellect remains active regardless of the circumstances.
In an interview with The Lallantop, Vikramaditya Motwane described Shah Rukh Khan as "magnificent" and recounted an incident involving the actor. In the film's climax, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan rushes to Shah Rukh a she is dying, a scene they were filming at the time. Under a tree, the actor lay down, and out of the blue, he asked one of the aides whether they might procure honey for him. Despite not knowing how to proceed, they managed to get him some honey. SRK proceeded to massage the honey onto his face.
The reason, he said, was that he wanted flies to land on his face, much like they do on the face of a dying man. Shah Rukh had full creative control over this. According to Vikramaditya, it is the director's responsibility to consider ways to improve a scene, but Shah Rukh isn't afraid to make adjustments when needed.
Additionally, the filmmaker mentioned that Shah Rukh Khan embodies a man's intellect, constantly striving to improve the present moment. His seemingly insignificant actions in films have a significant impact. In addition, he has a way of making everyone feel like they're special.
Vikramaditya has received Shah Rukh Khan very well. The filmmaker had previously stated during the Himalayan Film Festival that every film can't be Jawan or Pathaan. Substituting another actor for SRK will not yield the same outcome and experience. It's a unique moment with the superstar and those films are currently being produced.
Devdas is currently streaming on JioCinema (OTTplay Premium). Netflix just released the series Black Warrant directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.
