Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan extended his warm birthday wishes to Superstar Rajinikanth through a social media post, describing himself as one of the many devoted Rajini fans.

"Here’s wishing the inimitable legend - @rajinikanth Thalaiva a very happy birthday! Big hugs from me (just one of the many “all the Rajini fans!”)… Lots of love sir and may you keep entertaining us for many years to come!!!," he tweeted along with a still photo from his 2013 movie Chennai Express.

In Chennai Express, SRK paid a huge tribute to Rajinikanth with a dance number Lungi Dance. A fusion of hip-hop and folk, the song was dedicated to the cinematic legacy of Rajinikanth. And for better or worse, for nearly a decade Lungi Dance has gained the stature of a de facto fan anthem among the admirers of Rajinikanth.

SRK has never missed an opportunity to show his deep admiration for Rajinikanth. So much so that he refused to approve a question that used the word 'superstar' while mentioning him and Rajinikanth in the same sentence.

In an old interview clip that gained traction on social media on Rajinikanth's birthday, an interviewer posed a tricky question to Deepika Padukone, "You have worked with two superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth. Who is the best?" SRK promptly stepped in, invalidating the question, and stated, "If you compare like this she has only worked with one superstar. Rajini sir. There is no other superstar in the world."

SRK briefly shared the screen space with Rajinikanth in his 2011 superhero movie, Ra.One. Rajinikanth appeared as Chitti the robot from his blockbuster movie Enthiran.

In the meantime, SRK is waiting for the release of his movie Dunki. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film is due in cinemas worldwide on December 21.
