Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is on floors and is trending after photos from the sets went viral. Some images of Lara Dutta from the sets got leaked on the internet and has been creating a storm since. The movie features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. The actor has been a part of Ayan Mukerji’s action-superhero film Brahmastra previously. When Nitesh Tiwari had spoken about working on Ramayana during an interview, he said that he wants to make the movie for those who only know all about Avengers.

“There’s a sense of responsibility we have towards our kids. Today, the kids know the basic skeleton of Ramayana. They don’t really know it in depth, but they know everything about Avengers, which I don’t know. So maybe it’s about time that they also fell in love with Ramayana. And for that, they need to come to the theatre to see the kind of execution,” he had said in the interview which is now going viral.

Nitesh Tiwari also elaborated on why the pre-production of the film took so long. He pointed out that writing the script took long because there are some aspects they had to get right on paper. It is because the epic has some sensitive topics, especially for the 21st century crowd. It might become difficult to explain what is the importance of Laxman Rekha or agnipariksha for a woman, to the younger people.

The filmmaker spoke about how the script needed to appeal to a six-year-old as much as a 60-year-old. “It’s a very daunting task for you to appeal to this kind of a range. So, yes, there are a lot of things to keep in mind, that there are some things that can be taken care of during execution but there are some things you should not touch,” he said, adding that the team worked with pundits closely to understand which aspect they should touch and which they should avoid at all costs. The filmmaker had said that there were debates between him, the writers and the very pundits when it came to writing some scenes.

In conclusion, he had said that the idea for the movie was to create something that people had never seen before. His intentions are to present Ramayana in the way that it deserves to be.

In the recent past, Om Raut had helmed Adipurush, which was an adaptation of Ramayana. Prabhas played the role of Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon Lord Sita and Saif Ali Khan was seen as Ravana. The movie was trolled when it released but later, after offensive scenes were deleted, the film found an audience.
