Dulquer Salmaan recent interview about cutting off negative people from his life has also gone viral along with Nyla Usha’s video on the same
Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan has been all over the Internet the past month, with him promoting his music video Heeriye, the Netflix series Guns and Gulaabs and his big-budget gangster-actioner King of Kotha . This seems to have also rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, especially after the Abhilash Joshiy directorial failed to meet the expectations of a large section of the audience.
Since the day of its release, a lot of people, including the film’s cast members such as Nyla Usha, had complained of being deliberately targeted with negative reviews and hate campaigns. In fact, Nyla had shared a post on social media to “stop the negativity” and “allow those who want to watch the movie to do it”.
“I am not for people propagating unnecessary negativity,” she said, adding not everyone will like a film and that’s okay. “But you have to give everyone an opportunity to watch the film and decide for themselves.” The actress also lambasted people for “personally targeting” its lead actor Dulquer and calling him “elite” and “shouldn’t be given any benefit”.
Along with Nyla’s video, another snippet from Dulquer’s recent interview with the YouTube channel BeerBiceps has been shared widely now. The actor talked about how he handles negativity. “I am an overthinker. I always try to stay positive. I learnt quite early in life to cut off negative people. I think the first time was with a friend; it was an eye-opening moment for me,” he said.
This is not the first time that Dulquer has opened up about how he handles cynicism that has been aimed at in his acting career that has spanned over 11 years. In an interview with OTTplay in 2022, the actor said he is well-aware that he has the “privileges and advantages of being a star kid” , but this also comes with a huge group of people who are “trying to bring me down”.
On how he tackles this, the actor said that he looks at cinema as a sport and understands that there will be people supporting their favourite stars at any given point of time. That said, he said that he has been “attacked and put down” for some reason or the other when his contemporaries do well.
Dulquer had explained that though this does bother him, he has always put in a conscious effort to encourage other films and “root for each other”. The Sita Ramam star said that his personal aim will always be to do the best and his movies to outperform other projects, “I wouldn’t rejoice at someone else’s failure”. He explains that this thought stems from him knowing the kind of time and effort that goes into each movie and this is him doing his bit to “cleanse the negativity”.
