Jisshu plays Kajol's husband in the remake of the hit English series The Good Wife. When The Trial creator-director Suparn Varma approached Jisshu to star in the show, the actor was thrilled, not just because of the complexity of his character but because he would get the chance to work with Kajol.

Calling working with Kajol a "dream come true". Recalling the first day of shooting for The Trial, Jisshu told Mid-Day that he was "very nervous". When he told Kajol this, she told him, "Shut up, just shut up."

Jisshu added that those words from Kajol actually helped break the ice and added, "She put me at ease. She doesn’t have the air of a superstar. Once the camera rolls, Kajol pushes you to be better. Since she gives her all, you feel like pushing your boundaries.”

The Trial, which is the Indian adaptation of The Good Wife, also stars Kubbra Sait, Flora Saini, Sheeba Chaddha, Suchitra Pillai, Suparn Varma, and Aseem Hattangady, apart from Kajol and Jisshu Sengupta. It is directed by Suparn Varma and will be available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar starting July 14.
