Korean dramas or Kdramas as they are fondly called, have seeped into the category of popularity due to their intriguing storyline, cultural diversity, and tempting male leads.

Once you begin this journey, you won’t be able to resist the charm of binge-watching an entire series, crazy, right? It is easier to go with the flow when the Kdramas feature the handsome and alluring Nam Joo Hyuk. The model-turned-actor will be returning to the OTT platform with his new Kdrama Vigilante.

1) Twenty-Five Twenty-One

This romantic, coming-of-age Kdrama stars, Kim Tae-ri, Nam Joo-hyuk, Kim Ji-yeon, Choi Hyun-wook, and Lee Joo-myung in significant roles. The story is told in flashbacks and narrates the events from 1998-2021. It revolves around ambition, first love, friendship and family-crisis. The story unfolds in the present when Na Hee-do (the female protagonist) gets into an ugly fight with her daughter as she wants to quit ballet dancing. In the angry outburst, she went to her granny’s house and comes across an old diary of Na Hee-do. The story then switches to the past where other characters like Baek Yi-jin (played by Nam Joo Hyuk) get introduced. You’ll love the enemies-turn-friends trope as well as the budding romance between a passionate Fencing athlete and sports reporter.

Starring Nam Joo Hyuk, Bae Suzy, and Kim Seon-ho in leading roles – Start-Up as the name suggests narrates a story of entrepreneurship. The series depicts how bigger dreams can culminate into a beautiful reality if you are passionate about it. Nam Joo Hyuk plays a very humble, emotional, and geeky character in Start Up, called Nam Do-San. This Maths/Computer genius falls for the quirky and passionate lead, Seo Dal-mi, who dreams of becoming Korea’s Steve Jobs. While Kim Seon-ho plays a mentor and Dal-mi's secret pen pal lover.

His romance with Bae Suzy was adored by fans, however, the love triangle surely broke the hearts of many.

3) Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

This romantic comedy is a perfect go-to series to feel good. Starring Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung-kyung in the main roles, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Jo is packed with several humorous scenes and happy moments. Based on the life of Olympic gold medalist Jang Mi-ran – WFKBJ depicts the story of the titular character Kim Bok Jo who will follow her passion to become Korea’s gold medalist in weightlifting. While Nam Joo Hyuk plays a national-level swimmer who will eventually fall for his childhood friend and athlete Bok Joo. The series was loved by fans for its sweet college romance and sports passion.

One of its dialogues, “You Like Messi,” became a fan favorite to ask someone out on a date!

4) The Bride of Habaek

Nam Joo Hyuk shines in this mythology-based drama as he portrays the role of Water God Habaek, who is sent on earth to find a special stone that is lost mysteriously. On this special quest, he meets Yoon So-Ah, a psychiatrist (played by Shin Se-Kyung), who is fated to serve him as she is a servant’s descendant. The main is joined by several supporting actors, who play the god/goddess of the supernatural realm. Whether it’s the doomed romance or the supernatural powers, this drama is a package of fun, fantasy, and romance.

5) Who Are You- School 2015

The stellar cast also features Kim So hyun, Yook Sung jae, Mi seon Jeon in leading roles, apart from Nam Joo Hyuk. Who Are You revolves around the lives of two identical twin sisters Go Eun-byul and Lee Eun-bi (both played by Kim So-hyun) who get separated after one of them is adopted by a family. With many secrets and plot twists, School 2015 became an instant hit amongst the audience.

The series also depicts a cute childhood love between two friends, apart from dark themes like school bullying, mystery, etc.
