Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film Jawan has already created a lot of buzz among netizens, with more than five lakh tickets already sold in advance booking. Releasing on September 7, the Atlee-directed film features an ensemble cast that includes Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani, among others. During a promotional event of the film in Chennai recently, Shah Rukh was spotted taking blessings from the director’s mother by touching her feet.
The audio launch of Jawan took place in Chennai, where the superstar graced the audience with a dance performance. He later delivered a speech talking about the vision behind Jawan and film’s ambition of transcending geographical boundaries by going pan-India. The event was also attended by Atlee, music composer Anirudh Ravichander, and cast members Vijay, Sanya, Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra and Sunil Grover, among others.
In a heartwarming moment at the event, when the whole cast and crew of Jawan was asked to come on stage, Atlee brought his mother and Shah Rukh greeted her with folded hands and bowed down to touch her feet. The video of this warm gesture has gone viral on the internet with fans calling him ‘the humble king’, ‘King Khan for a reason’ and more.
Jawan marks the Hindi film debut of South Indian actress Nayanthara, while it is also the first collaboration between Atlee and Shah Rukh.
Co-produced by Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma, the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions of the movie are scheduled to hit the theaters on September 7, 2023. Shah Rukh made a blockbuster comeback with Pathaan earlier this year after taking a long hiatus from acting.
