DC comics' this latest fantasy drama is all set to have a Netflix release in 2024
A still from Dead Boy Detectives
Dead Boy Detectives is an upcoming fantasy drama, developed by Steve Yockey. It is based on the DC Comics characters of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner. Although the exact release date is not revealed yet, the series will have a grand premiere on Netflix.
To announce the news, today Netflix has dropped a first look of Dead Boy Detectives. The 8-part series is a ghost story that explores loss, grief, and death through the lens of Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland, 2 dead British teenagers, and their very alive friend, Crystal Palace. So, it’s a lot like a vintage detective series, only darker and on acid.
Dead Boy Detectives first look
In the teaser, Charles and Edwin introduce themselves as the dynamic duo behind their paranormal investigation operation. Charles, the more physical of the two, takes on the role of 'the brawn', while Edwin, the more intellectually inclined, serves as 'the brains'. For fans of the comics, this characterization is spot-on.
The trailer also introduces Crystal, a clairvoyant with the ability to communicate with Charles and Edwin in the afterlife. With Crystal's supernatural assistance, Charles and Edwin will confront a wide range of paranormal phenomena, from witchcraft to encounters with Hell and Death personified.

This promising prospect was further solidified in April 2022 when HBO Max came up with an eight-episode season.
