The makers of IF on December 14 dropped the special first teaser trailer of the upcoming film, starring Ryan Reynolds, Cailey Fleming, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr. Fiona Shaw, Emily Blunt, and others in promising roles. IF teaser trailer opens doors of imagination!

In the recently dropped teaser, we see Ryan Reynolds grappling with the weird reality where imaginary friends enter the other dimensions. The humungous purple creature is voiced by Steve Carell. The Office actors, John Krasinski and Steve Carell are teaming up again for the new fantasy comedy film.

As the name hints, IF delves into the power of imagination and is a perfect creature-feature film for families and kids.

The live-action animation tells the story of a father-daughter duo played by Reynolds and Fleming as they discover a supernatural ability to see the abandoned IFs (Imaginary Friends) created by a child’s fantasy but left when they grew up. The duo team up with the fuzzy creatures to reconnect them with their creators. Many viewers expressed their desire and joy after watching the short teaser trailer.

The star-studded ensemble cast includes Krasinski, Ryan Reynolds, Cailey Fleming, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr. Emily Blunt, Fiona Shaw, Matt Damon, Maya Rudolph, Sam Rockwell, Sebastian Maniscalco, Jon Stewart, Bobby Moynihan, Christopher Meloni, Richard Jenkins, and Awkwafina.

A Quiet Place’s writer-director and a father of two daughters with Emily Blunt –John Krasinski previously told Collider that he made this movie for his kids as they couldn’t watch the horror, “A Quiet Place” due to its adult themes. “Imaginary friends are adorable and all those things, but they’re also time capsules of your hopes, dreams, and ambitions when you were the most fertile of a brain, and it never goes away. I think we’re told that we’re adults instead of what if you realize that you never stopped being a kid,” he said.

The film is slated for a May release in 2024.
