Watch: Chennai theatre objects to family with kids watching Viduthalai Part 1, tensions run high

A high-voltage confrontation broke out between a group of audience and theatre management during the screening of Viduthalai Part 1.

The emotions were running high in a theatre in Tamil Nadu during the screening of director Vetrimaaran's latest movie Viduthalai Part 1. A video, which is going viral on the internet, showed the public slamming the theatre management for trying to prevent a family from watching the movie with their kids.

According to reports, on Friday night, a family had gone to an unidentified theatre in Virugambakkam. The management took exception to the family bringing children to watch this movie as it's 'A' certified. The family, however, refused to budge. Following this, the management called in cops to diffuse the tension. The video shows a woman making some strong comments against the objection.

"Why can't we bring our kids to a movie that talks about people's pain? This is not right. Don't parents know what they should show their kids? You don't decide it for us," says the woman in the video drawing claps and cheers from other audiences in the theatre.

The woman could also be seen mentioning the recent episode at Chennai's Rohini theatre . The theatre management came under a lot of fire after its staff stopped a woman and her kids from 'Narikurava' community from entering the cinema hall to watch Tamil star Simbu's latest movie Pathu Thala. Even though the family in question had proper tickets, the security didn't allow them. The incident soon caught the attention of the public, who objected to the discriminatory behaviour. And the video of the incident also went viral, putting the theatre management in the dock. The issue soon snowballed into a political controversy with several members of Tamil cinema, including superstar Kamal Haasan slamming the discriminatory behaviour by the theatre.
