War 2 - Hrithik Roshan shoots action sequence at a Japanese monastery set built in Mumbai?

War 2 - Hrithik Roshan is currently busy with the shoot of Ayan Mukerji's film in Mumbai. The makers reportedly built a Japanese monastery set in Mumbai for an action sequence.

Hrithik Roshan recently commenced the shoot of Ayan Mukerji's War 2. It is the second installment of his 2019 film. The Bollywood actor reportedly shot at an ambitious set piece last week in Mumbai. According to a media report, the makers of War 2 built a Japanese monastery set at YRF Studios in Andheri, Mumbai. This action sequence was choreographed by Se-yeong Oh. A huge set was constructed along the lines of a 300-year-old heritage monastery on a hilltop.

As per a Mid-Day report, before shooting the action sequence, Hrithik Roshan trained in martial arts for a few weeks. The B-Town actor also learned to use a katana. The action scene will feature Hrithik doing hand-to-hand combat as well as katanas for War 2. "In the set piece, Hrithik’s character takes on warrior monks specialised in martial arts," a source told the tabloid.

Although Ayan kicked off the first schedule in Spain last year, Hrithik started shooting for the film in March 2024. Having said that, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani are expected to join the film's shoot in April. The filmmaker will begin NTR's shoot with a deadly face-off between him and Hrithik.

"It has been planned as a nine-day schedule in India and international locations," a source added. As per the report, Hrithik has allotted the next three months to the action-thriller. Both Ayan and Aditya Chopra wish to finish the film by the year-end.

YRF spy universe

War 2 is an integral part of the Yash Raj Films' spy universe. After the Tiger franchise, War became a part of the YRF spy universe. It was followed by Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan. While the first installment of War was directed by Siddharth Anand, the second installment is being helmed by Ayan Mukerji. For those who are unaware, Hrithik was also seen in Tiger 3, which was released on Diwali 2023.

Coming back to War 2, the makers haven't announced the release date yet.
