Raffi’s directorial Voice of Sathyanathan also marks Anupam Kher’s Mollywood comeback
Malayalam actor Dileep’s first theatrical release since the pandemic – Voice of Sathyanathan – has finally dropped on OTT. The movie, which had him teaming up with Punjabi House and Thenkasipattanam director Raffi, went on to be a superhit post its theatrical release in July and dropped on the streaming space from September 21.
Also starring Joju George, Veena Nandakumar, Anupam Kher, Johny Antony and Ramesh Pisharody, the movie is currently available to watch on Manorama Max and OTTplay Premium.
Reasons to watch Voice of Sathyanathan on OTT
Post the actress assault case, Dileep, who is one of the accused, hasn’t had too many hits. Voice of Sathyanathan was a saving grace in that regard to the actor, who was at one point in time one of the most successful stars in the industry.
A prime reason for Voice of Sathyanathan, which ran for over 50 days in theatres in Kerala, was that it appealed to the family viewers, who were once the staple audience for the actors’ films. Raffi, who is known for comedies, has also ensured that Voice of Sathyanathan didn’t rely too much on his trademark slapstick comedy and tried to discuss a serious and relevant issue in an engaging manner without sacrificing humour.
The film also has an ensemble cast with actors such as Jagapathi Babu, Makarand Deshpande and Anupam Kher playing pivotal roles. Iratta and Nayattu actor Joju George is also part of the film as a crucial character that drives that movie’s narrative.
What is the story of Voice of Sathyanathan?
The film has Dileep essaying the titular role of Sathyanathan, a furniture seller who thoughtlessly says things that ironically becomes true. After one such incident is misinterpreted as a threat to the President of India, Sathyanathan has to jump through hoops to make his voice heard. But will this make a difference?
