After The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files Vivek Agnihotri will begin work on The Delhi Files. The director recently spoke about his upcoming venture.

Agnihotri told news agency ANI that the story will not just focus on Delhi during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots but will travel all the way to Tamil Nadu.

"The way the entire Punjab terrorism situation was handled was inhuman and it was purely from vote bank politics and that's why terrorism was cultivated by the Congress party in Punjab. First, they created it, then they destroyed it and then killed lots of innocent people and then they covered it up. Till date, there has been no justice. But if history is taught to people and facts are told to people, they will stand up and seek justice and that's when the government bend down (sic)," said the director.

The Delhi Files was announced by Agnihotri in September last year, where he said that the movie will be his "boldest" and will expose "a gut-wrenching tale of our times." The announcement was made with a poster that featured a silhouette of a Sikh boy.

Agnihotri’s The Tashkent Files released in 2019, won the filmmaker a National Award for best screenplay and dialogues. The movie focuses on the mysterious death of India’s former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shashtri.

The Kashmir Files attempted to tell the story of the Kashmiri Pandit exodus from the valley in the '90s. Koimoi writes that the movie, which has Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty, earned 251.75 crores in five weeks.

Bankrolled by Abhishek Agarwal, Archana Agarwal, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and Pallavi Joshi, The Delhi Files will be presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal.
