The film, written and directed by Venki, has comedian Sathish essaying a serious role
The teaser of actor and comedian Sathish's Vithaikkaaran was released today by music composer GV Prakash Kumar and actress Keerthy Suresh. Going by the teaser, which spans almost two minutes, the plot seems to revolve around a diamond smuggling operation that goes wrong and gets caught by the customs authorities at the airport. The parties involved decide to seek the help of a magician to get hold of the diamonds (worth Rs 25 crore) stuck in the locker.
Interestingly, the film will have the comedian in an uber serious role. Keerthy Suresh, who released the poster, wrote that it was interesting to see him in such a role. She wrote, "So happy to release the teaser of #Vithaikkaaran. This is looking intense @Venki_dir Nice to see you essaying a serious role like this @actorsathishWishing all the success to you guys and the entire team (sic)!"
Check out GV Prakash's tweet below.
It is said that the actor will be seen in a dual role, which will mark his first in his acting career. The film is directed by Venki and is in the final stages of production. The star cast includes Sathish, Simran Gupta, Anandraj, Madhusudhan, Subramaniam Siva, John Vijay, Pavel Navageethan, Japan Kumar and others.
While the music for the film is by VBR, cinematography is by Yuva Karthick and editing is by Arul Elango Siddharth. The stunt sequences are choreographed by Stunner Sam and art direction is by G Durairaj. The film is likely to hit screens in September. However, there has been no official word on the same yet.
Sathish was last seen in Kannai Nambathey, in which he played Udhayanidhi Stalin's friend Jagan. The crime thriller, helmed by Mu Maran, opened to mixed reviews. He also played Vijay's friend in the Pongal blockbuster Varisu. Vamshi Paidipally's Varisu opened to packed theatres and was a massive hit.
