The RK Suresh-starrer will hit screens on May 6
RK Suresh’s next outing Visithran is all set to hit screens on May 6. Now the latest we hear is that the film’s trailer will be released by Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and Makkal Iyakkunar Seenu Ramasamy. RK Suresh shared the same on his social media handle and said that the trailer will be launched on the occasion of Ajith’s birthday on May. He wrote, “#Visithiran trailer launch by makkal Selvan and makkal ikunar #MAY 1 st on #AK birthday 👍👍👍 @VijaySethuOffl @seenuramasamy @STUDIO9_produc @bstudios_offl @onlynikil (sic).”
Visithran is the remake of the critically-acclaimed Malayalam film Joseph (released in 2018), which had Joju George playing the lead. The star cast for the Tamil version includes Poorna, Madhu Shalini, Bhagavathi Perumal, Ilavarasu, George Maryan, G Marimuthu and Ani Murali. Music for the film is by GV Prakash, cinematography by Vetrivel Mahendran and editing is by Sathish Surya. The film was initially scheduled to release on May 2, but the makers decided to advance the date recently. The film is in a crime thriller that revolves around the police investigation of a crime and an important issue plaguing the society.
The Malayalam version was directed by M Padmakumar, who is also helming the Tamil version, and had Dileesh Pothan, Irshad, Athmiya Rajan, Johny Antony, Sudhi Koppa, Malavika Mohan and Madhuri Braganza starring in it. The film was written by Shahi Kabir. Joju George won the Kerala State Award for his performance in it and received a special mention at the National Awards. The songs were composed by Ranjin Raj and Bhagyaraj and the background score was by Anil Johnson. The original was so well received that it is now being remade in Telugu as Sekhar (starring Rajasekhar), in Kannada as Ravi Bopanna (starring Ravichandran) and in Hindi as well with Sunny Deol playing the lead.
