Vishnu Unnikrishnan’s Kuri, which marks the actor’s first role as a police officer, will not be hitting theatres on July 8 as earlier announced. The film’s director KR Praveen took to his social media page on Wednesday to reveal that the movie’s release has been pushed.

In a social media post, the director explained that every film is a battle and the case has been no different for Kuri. The movie was made with a lot of effort and so it’s priority of everyone associated with Kuri to release it in theatres, he said. However, due to unfavourable weather conditions and a few technical difficulties, the team has taken the decision to temporarily push the film’s release to a further date, he said.

Praveen said that they have decided to delay the release, having full confidence in the content of the film and believes that it’s for the good. The team has not yet announced its new release date. If Kuri had released on July 8, it would have to had to clash with Prithviraj Sukumaran’s big budget ‘mass’ action-entertainer Kaduva that hits theatres on July 7 and Pyaali, which is helmed by Babitha and Rinna and distributed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films.

Kuri, which marks the comeback production of Kokers Media Entertainments, is also scripted by the filmmaker. Apart from Vishnu, the movie also has National Award-winning actress Surabhi Lakshmi, Aditi Ravi, Vinod Thomas, Sagar Soorya and Vishnu Govindan in pivotal roles. Vinu Thomas is the composer of the film, which has Santosh C Pillai as its cinematographer.
