Kartik Aaryan has reportedly joined forces with filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj for his upcoming film. It was recently reported that the film would be mounted on a budget of Rs 150 crore. While it was said that Vishal had been working on the script for months now, the latest buzz is that the director has decided to give a different take to an old story. Bhardwaj is reportedly back to working on the Sapna Didi story, a film which was to be made with Deepika Padukone and late Irrfan Khan.

According to a Mid-Day report, Vishal Bhardwaj and Kartik Aaryan currently working on the Sapna Didi story. However, unlike the earlier version, their offering will be told from the perspective of Hussain Ustara. "The script is ready. The makers are yet to lock the female lead," a source told the tabloid. And if things go as planned, the movie will go on floors in the latter half of 2024.
For the uninitiated, in 2018, it was said that Vishal was about to make a film on Sapna Didi, based on a chapter of S Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. In the film, Deepika was expected to play the titular role of Sapna Didi (Ashraf Khan), while Irrfan Khan was roped in to essay the character of Hussain Ustara. However, the movie never saw the light of the day.
Kartik Aaryan's upcoming projects
Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan has some exciting projects lined up in the pipeline. The actor will next be seen in Kabir Khan's Chandu Champion, which is set for a theatrical release on June 14, 2024. Later this year, the actor will be seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee. Kartik has collaborated with Triptii Dimri and Vidya Balan for the movie.
Apart from these two movies, Kartik has a film backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions lined up. He will be seen in an untitled film, directed by Sandeep Modi. It is scheduled for a release on August 15, 2025.
