Sai Pallavi, who rose to prominence after starring in the Malayalam film Premam, is now one of the popular heroines of Telugu cinema. During the promotional tour for Virata Parvam, she shared interesting tidbits about her upcoming films as well, as her professional insights.

Sai Pallavi says her upcoming film, Gargi, which was shot during the pandemic in Tamil, is as personal to her as Virata Parvam. "It's a brand new narrative that will surprise everyone." Gargi is directed by Gautham Ramachandran, who rose to fame with Richie. The film, which marked the debut of Nivin Pauly in Tamil cinema, is a taut crime thriller, and a remake of the Kannada original, Ulidavaru Kandanthe.

The first look of Gargi was released on social media, on Sai Pallavi's birthday, along with a glimpse of its making. In an interview with OTTplay, Gautham said he never had a specific actor in mind while writing the script. "I conceived Gargi as a story that needed to be told," he added.

Sai Pallavi enjoys reading scripts. "That's is something I quite enjoy doing," she says. While her films are available on various OTT platforms, Sai Pallavi is yet to lead a web series.

Recalling her only stint with OTT, Sai Pallavi tells, that she did an anthology which was released a year ago called Paava Kadhaigal. "When I get good scripts that I can explore, I don't have inhibition about being part of OTT. It is a great place to showcase work for young directors, who might not have the resources to get their films to theatres."

Despite the admirable craze she has, Sai Pallavi is particular about the stories she chooses. "I don't mind having breaks in my work, but my body of work should be good. A story will find me if it's meant for me."

Sai Pallavi also confirmed that she is starring opposite Sivakarthikeyan in a film, which will be directed by Rajkumar Periasamy (of Rangoon-fame). Hearsay is that the shooting will begin in September. This project is produced by Kamal Haasan, under his home banner, Raaj Kamal Films International, in association with Sony Pictures Films India, and R Mahendran.

The actress, who will be seen in Virata Parvam, alongside Rana Daggubati, which will hit the screens today, adds, "Directors have a lot of freedom when they do something for OTT. When actors get such scripts where they work with people who do not have inhibitions, it becomes a different process altogether."

Virata Parvam, Venu Udugula, chronicles a love story against the backdrop of the Naxalite movement in the Telangana region. Sai Pallavi plays the character of Vennela, who falls in love with Naxal leader Ravanna (Rana Daggubati). The actress was overwhelmed by film's the pre-release buzz. "Virata Parvam will pleasantly surprise everyone because it is not what anyone would expect!"
